Valentine to star at Closing Ceremony

By | General News | No Comments

This year we have been very committed to creating the ultimate experience for our participants and thus we can think of no better way to conclude the tour than sitting back on lawns of Leeuwin Estate and listening to the delectable voice of one of WA’s brightest new stars. Described a cross between Birdy and Abby Dobson, Paige Valentine’s performance at our Closing Ceremony will coincide with the launching of her new album late in the year. With no racing the next day you may even like to indulge in a chardonnay or two while taking in the ambiental magic that is unique to Leeuwin Estate. Photo: Russell Ord

Meyer to ride for Satalyst

By | General News | No Comments

Cameron Meyer is the latest rider to move from our Pro Register and into a team for ToMR. We are not privy to the team plans but we expect that Cam will be sent out by Satalyst to chase a stage win rather than pursue a high GC position. That said this year’s course really suits him and white line fever is such an unpredictable thing, just ask Phil Anderson who came across to the tour in 2013 with no intent to race and ended up winning three stages! Oh What a Feeling!

By | Media Releases | No Comments

If you are on our crew for the 2015 race you could find yourself driving around in the new Hilux SR5’s come November! Busselton Toyota have joined the Tour as our Official Supplier of Vehicles and as well as supplying Hiluxes to support the race, our team will also have a couple of new Prado 2.8L Turbo Diesels to use through out the year. It’s enough to have the staff in our office doing crazy little jumps, which is all good and fine until someone strains a thigh muscle….

Marchegiano to lead Italian campaign.

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

We would like to welcome Davide Marchegiano and the Punto Tours Italian Guides Team back to the 2015 tour. This team is full of great riders, but more importantly they know how to have fun off the bike as well. This team has will have a number of contenders for Green Jerseys and look for climbing specialist Andrea Nicosia to feature in the King of the Mountains contest.

Cromwell to ride with ELA

By | Media Releases | No Comments

She was one of the hottest properties on our 2015 Pro Register but Tiffany Cromwell has settled on a ride with Team ELA at this year’s tour. We don’t know a lot about the rest of the team but they will have their work cut out for them if Tiffany sets a quick time in the Stage One Time Trial… they may even find themselves in the position of having to defend a Pink Jersey heading into the rest of the tour. Shannon’s Story

By | General News | No Comments

Shannon Miraglia always led an active lifestyle until a back injury prevented her from exercising for 18 months. As a part of her recovery program and in an effort to get back to her “optimum weight” Shannon took up cycling with the Perth Integrated Health Cycling Group. Six months later, (and 14kg lost) Shannon participated in the Niche Living Women’s Training Program conducted by Hall Cycle Training and soon after completing the program decided to step up from participation events to racing. Shannon will come to the 2015 Tour as a part of the Next Vision Women’s Cycling Team, by her own admission she may not be a contender at the tour, but that’s not the point.

Durbridge set to target Stage 1

By | Media Releases | No Comments

He thrilled us at the Giro d’Italia and he is currently stomping up the mountains of the Tour de France, but will Luke Durbridge be able to set the fastest time up Hill View Road in Stage 1 of ToMR?  It will be no easy task to win this stage though as several of the professional riders in the tour will view the 7.4km Time Trial as their chance to secure a ToMR Medal, (and a cow.) Luke will also be up against a host of local talent who will be looking to impress and put themselves into GC contention for the rest of the tour. A big thank you to Nicole, Andrew and Roger from Total Travel WA for bringing Luke to Margaret River and for stepping up to become major sponsors of the event.

Important change to Stage 4

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Thanks to the support of City of Busselton we are now starting this stage from the spectacular coastal hamlet of Yallingup. This alteration to the start location makes the stage significantly more challenging with the incorporation of two categorised climbs, including the potentially decisive climb of Wildwood Road.

ACJ brings ART to up the ante

By | Media Releases | No Comments

Andrew Christie-Johnston is one of the most respected people in Australian Cycling and he is bringing the Avanti Racing Team across to WA to compete in this year’s Satalyst Tour of Maargaret River. Originally based in Tasmania the team is now officially registered as a UCI Continental Team from New Zealand. With names like Patrick Bevan, Neil Van der Ploeg, Joseph Cooper, Brenton Jones and current World Under 23 Time Trial Champion Campbell Falckmore in the squad we can expect them to have a very strong team at ToMR. After returning to some good form at the recent Tour of Korea, many locals will be hoping that West Australian sprinter AJ Giacoppo will also be in the final team and adding to his stage wins from the 2013 tour.
